COPENHAGEN GOES TO CANNES
For the 15th consecutive year, Copenhagen is promoted as an attractive metropolis at the MIPIM-exhibition in Cannes, the world's leading exhibition for investments in cities, regions and real estate. Nearly 400 people from 162 Danish companies and organisations participate at the exhibition this year, which is attended by more than 14,000 participants from 80 countries around the world.MIPIM takes place the 16th-19th of March in Cannes, both in and around the famous Palais des Festivals, which provides the venue for nearly 2000 booths and exhibitors from 80 countries. Participants include developers, contractors, property investors, consultants, architects and politicians.
As part of the international marketing of the Capital Region and the Øresund Region, Copenhagen Capacity and Malmø City host the 200 m2 large “Øresund stand”, which is backed by 20 business partners and approximately 50 sponsors from both sides of the Øresund Region. Furthermore, there is a large turnout of mayors and other official representatives from the Øresund Region.
The Danish partners, which will be exposed at the Øresund stand, are: CPH City and Port development, Sjælsø Group, NCC Property Development A / S, Øresund Bridge Consortium, MT Højgaard A / S, Copenhagen Towers and the United Properties A / S.
In the wake of the financial crisis, Copenhagen Capacity - the Danish Capital Region’s official inward investment agency - reports a dawning optimism among both the Øresund stand’s partners and among investors in general.
This optimism is shared by Copenhagen's Lord Mayor, Frank Jensen (S):
"In Copenhagen, we also feel the effects of the crisis, but that does not mean that the city comes to a hold. We have some of Europe's best building sites and city development projects. MIPIM is an important exhibition and business forum for Copenhagen because the world’s leading players in the property market is present. Copenhagen has many good projects to tell about, including the Ørestad South project, the Marble Mole Project - with a UN-City and Stevens Holls spectacular 65 meters bridge - and Scandinavia's largest sustainable urban development project in the North harbour, which is an expression of our vision to make Copenhagen a laboratory for green growth," says Lord Mayor Frank Jensen.
The Øresund Region offers a strong combination of "hard factors", such as a good business climate and investment opportunities, and "soft factors" such as human capital, sustainability, design and quality of life.
"We have tried to stress the many qualities of Copenhagen by an exclusive booth that attracts attention by its size, a joint theme for the future and an exclusive lounge area arranged in order to facilitate networking among participants," says Managing Director of Copenhagen Capacity, Steen Donner.
Programme:
Among the official activities arranged by the Øresund booth is a joint reception for Malmø and Copenhagen, at which Copenhagen's Lord Mayor, Frank Jensen, and Malmø's Mayor Ilmar Reepalu participates (Tuesday, 16 March, 4-5 p.m. at the booth) and a seminar on the theme "The future begins in the Øresund Region" with presentations of the region's pioneering urban development projects, infrastructure and research activities (Wednesday 17 March, 10-11.30 a.m. in Auditorium J.
