DANISH UNIVERSITY DEVELOPS SUPER-CONCRETE

Oct. 13, 2009 | Topic: Property and Construction

New construction principles for concrete can reduce the material consumption by half, reduce the environmental burden and render the possibility of until now unseen architecture.

New ground-breaking constructions make it possible to replace traditional, expensive and energy intensive concrete and steel constructions with cheaper and more environmentally friendly concrete constructions.

Super light construction as the new technology is called, is developed at the Technical University of Denmark and weighs close to 50 per cent less than current steel and concrete constructions. Thereby both building expenses and CO2 emission can be reduced considerably in connection with production, transportation and construction.

The new technology, which has just been internationally patented, is developed by senior lecturer Kristian Hertz from the Technical University of Denmark.
