Jul. 3, 2009 | Topic: Creative and entertainmentRoskilde has become a groundbreaking and innovative player in the making of European music culture, and the festival that each year attracts a massive audience, is today one of the biggest festivals in Europe.
The festival is a hub for creativity and at gateway for musical inspiration and performance at all levels, both local and international. This cutting-edge festival is organized by a non-profit humanitarian organization on the basis of approximately 25,000 volunteers. All profits from the festival are donated to national and international humanitarian charity and cultural purposes by The Roskilde Festival Charity Society.
From 2 – 5 of July Roskilde will host some of the biggest names in the world of music, and be subject to a torrent of fantastic musical experiences. Names such as David Bowie, Guns N’ Roses, Robbie Williams, Bob Marley, U2, Bob Dylan and Kanye West are among previous performers at the festival, and the contingency in high class performers, will again this year attract the largest international crowd in Europe.
Seven stages and 175 bands will be the very focal point of Roskilde from Thursday to Sunday. The camping areas open on the Sunday prior to the festival with music at Pavilion Junior – the stage for upcoming acts – and a wealth of activities during the four days leading up to Thursday. Roskilde Festival is 4 days’ warm-up and 4 days’ music. This is a total of 8 days of partying. Roskilde Festival is a unique and all-encompassing experience where music, events and activities form a unity with the intense sense of community among an emphatic audience.
