THE FEMERN BRIDGE WILL BE A REALITY IN 2018
Jun. 19, 2009 | Topic: Regional setupWithin three months of the Danish parliament agreeing to a direct link between Denmark and Germany, the federal state of Germany has sanctioned the project.
Thus the construction can commence in three years time, and the bridge is due to be finished in 2018. The chairman of the Danish-German Femern Bælt Committee, former Tax Minister for the Danish Liberals Svend Erik Hovmand, is very happy with the decision made by the federal state of Germany.
“This connection between Denmark and Germany will be the foundation of extensive business, economic and cultural development”, he says.
A DKK 33b bridge
According to Svend Erik Hovmand, there is already a significant interest in the business environment to be located along the direct route between Copenhagen and Hamburg.
