DANES AMONG THE FINALISTS IN THE INDEX:AWARD
The Penguin Army community and their designs are among the finalists in run for the biggest design award in the world, the INDEX:Award, with a total award sum of 500,000 euros.
This grand figure is financed by the state of Denmark, and apart from the vast prize, the award is distinguished by its main driver; the mission to generate more Design to Improve Life of higher quality all over the world.
The award receives nominations from China to the United States, from Finland to South Africa, from Singapore to Jordan – and from these nominations, the INDEX: international jury selects the best as finalists, and the very best as winners of the biennial award. The finalists for the INDEX:Award 2009 have now been selected and among the nominated -- more than 700 -- from 54 countries, is the Danish origin, The Penguin Army.
The Penguin Army community was formed to generate awareness among young people and call to action in the fight against global warming.
Penguin Army is the result of strategic, social, and communication design. The aim is to prove that being green does not have to be boring. The community promotes a fun, green lifestyle on their blog, by hosting CO2-neutral parties, giving away eco-friendly tools, and making exciting happenings and street art. In this way, they encourage people to take matters into their own hands.
