HERE IS THE INDUSTRY'S NEW AGREEMENT
Feb. 23, 2010 | Topic: Business conditionsThe first phase of the collective bargaining is now over. The Danish labour market is particularly known for being one of the most flexible in the world and this year's negotiations prove this fact.
Due to the economic crisis focus has been on security rather than on wage rise.
"I think that we have reached a fine agreement, though it has been made in the shadow of the economic crisis. The agreement provides something for our new members while at the same time ensuring production jobs in the future" says Thorkild E. Jensen, President of CO-industri.
The results
The overall control is improved, a new gender equality board, two extra weeks earmarked parental leave as well as a new severance package for employees are some of the results after the parties reached an agreement Monday night.
The Danish model
The Danish labour market is largely dominated by decentralized bargaining - it is only the minimum wage which is negotiated jointly. 75 per cent of the wage formation happens at the workplace.
The purpose of the decentralized wage bargaining is to reflect the actual situation of the individual companies rather than forcing an agreement upon them.
