DANISH MEDICINE APPROVED IN THE USA
Jan. 29, 2010 | Topic: Life ScienceOn 26 January the US Food and Drug Administration approved the marketing of Novo Nordisk’s insulin analogue Victoza for treatment of type 2 diabetes in grown people.
“The US approval of Victoza® represents a major advancement in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and is an important milestone for Novo Nordisk that follows the recent approval in Japan and the ongoing successful launch in Europe," says president and CEO Lars Rebien Sørensen at Novo Nordisk.
The approval in the USA is expected to be of extremely financial importance for Novo Nordisk.
According to analyst Rune Majlund Dahl at Sydbank said in the newspaper Berlingske Tidende that the approval of Victoza will mean the equivalent of an extra annual turnover of DKK 12-18 billion when the product is fully distributed in 2018.
