DANISH WIND TURBINES PRODUCE POWER AS NEVER BEFOREJul. 18, 2012 | Topic: Cleantech
Per capita, Denmark is world-leading in producing wind power.
Denmark sets new records in wind power, reports daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
In the past three years, the Danish wind turbine adventure has outdone itself. The number of wind turbines being dismounted is higher than the number being installed. However, the wind turbines that are set up today are considerably larger and more powerful than earlier models, and as a result, for the first time ever, Denmark is good for an aggregate wind power pool of more than 4.000 megawatt (MW), to be precise 4.004 MW.
- 4.000 MW is an impressive milestone, says Jan Hylleberg, CEO of the Danish Wind Industry Association.
Constructing larger wind turbines, offshore and onshore, is the solution to the government’s green energy ambitions, argues Jan Hylleberg
- This will facilitate the climate agreement’s objective of 50 per cent of all electricity consumption coming from wind power by 2020 – and with fewer turbines, states Jan Hylleberg.
On a global scale, Denmark is currently the nation that produces most wind power per capita.
