SOLAR CELL SYSTEMS STORMING AHEAD IN DENMARK
Jan. 17, 2012 | Topic: CleantechThe number of solar cell system installations trebled between January 2011 and December 2011, writes the Danish Ingeniøren newspaper.
Poor summer weather or no, the Danes are crazy about solar cells and the energy they produce, and in the second half of 2011 the number of installations exploded.
The interest is great and every week approximately 100 applications are submitted concerning the installation of solar cell systems.
A statement from the Danish Energy Association from July shows that just under 1,300 systems were installed in Denmark in the first half of the year, while in the latest statement this number has exploded to 2,400 systems.
This means that the number of solar installations trebled between January 2011 and December 2011.
Furthermore, the installed capacity of solar cells has rocketed. In the statement in July the capacity was measured to be 4,500 kW and since then this has increased to 9,600 kW.
- This is a development that has taken us by surprise. It is the result, among other factors, of a decrease in the price of solar cell systems due to the recession, and furthermore the system of net deductions. Finally, many people are taking the challenge of climate change seriously and solar cell systems are a way of making your commitment visible compared to geothermal systems, for example, which you are not able to see, says Richard Schalburg, chief consultant at the Danish Energy Association.
