CRISIS MAKES DANES MORE EFFICIENT

Increase in Danish productivity is the highest in 16 years.

Danish employees are working harder than ever before. Recent numbers from Statistics of Denmark show that productivity increased by 4.9 per cent in 2011. That is the highest level in 16 years, writes the Børsen daily newspaper.

This development is pulling the Danish economy in the right direction. Professor Jan Rose Skaksen from Copenhagen Business School reckons that the financial crisis which has troubled the world’s economies and business climates over the past three years has improved the efficiency of Danish employees to a certain extent.

- The recession has eroded bad practice and prompted new and smarter ways of working. Many people are now working tirelessly to keep their jobs, says Jan Rose Skaksen.

The major Danish company Grundfos is one of the enterprises involved in the development. The productivity of the firm rose by 14 per cent last year.
