DANISH RESEARCHERS POPULAR
May 30, 2011 | Topic: Life ScienceDanish researchers are some of the most cited in the world. This is a mark of the high quality of Danish research.
A recent survey from NordForsk shows that Danish scientists and researchers are some of the most quoted in the world, writes the daily newspaper Information.
Overall, Denmark is placed 27 per cent higher than the global average and is the absolute most cited among the Nordic countries. Specifically, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is the centre of attention. The university is positioned 40 per cent above global average in terms of citations.
The high volume of references is a testament to the quality of Danish research. It is common practice to measure the quality of given publications on the number of quotations from other practitioners.
The survey from NordForsk supports the conclusions made in the reputable Thomson Reuters Citation Science Index, where Denmark is equally placed number one.
NordForsk is a subunit of the Nordic Council for Ministers, which finances Nordic co-operations in research and provides consultancy on research policies and initiatives.
