CULTURE AND ATTRACTIONS
Brøndby has a great location with regards to a variety of experiences that Greater Copenhagen offers. Also its suburban location to Copenhagen means that the rest of Zealand and Skåne are within easy reach.
Even though most of Brøndby appears as a young municipality it has found its own identity, which gives the citizens great daily joy when using suburban life and leisure activities.
You will find both shopping malls and small grocery shops scattered around the municipality. Various restaurants with diverse images as well as small pubs are turning Brøndby into a lively town.
Brøndby offers a wide range of leisure activities all year round. Vestvolden part of the fortification of Copenhagen, runs through the municipality from north to south as a green band, in which several historical buildings are being restored as part of a new open-air military museum.
All the way from east to west are green forests, large allotment garden areas and parks towards Køge Bay Beach Park that is one of Copenhagen’s most frequent beaches.
Brøndby and sports
Brøndby hosts many local sports clubs that are in evidence not only on a national level but also internationally. Especially the soccer club Brøndby IF and Svanholm Cricket club are both evidence internationally.
The public swimming pool Vestbad, Brøndby golf park and Brøndby Harbour are other exsamples of good sport parks.
The soccer club Brøndby IF (BIF) has won the Danish championship 10 times and has been evident in european soccer. The club has a modern stadium with a capacity of 29,000 spectators.
The area around the stadium accommodates one of the largest sports centres and a number of sports leagues in Denmark.
A cultural experience
Culturally Brøndby has focused on modern libraries and cultural centres and in 2009, a brand new art centre is to open in Brøndby Strand. Here you will find a professional run coffee house, a drop-in-centre for the elderly, a library, a tourist information centre, an adult education association, a multi-purpose hall and conference rooms, which alltogether gives a welcoming whole.
Especially focused on children is a school of music and the animal farm Søholt on which children can be around animals.
Every year a ”big play day” is held with a lot of leisure activities and in the summer holiday children can interplay in a wide range of holiday activities within and outside the municipality.
A great deal of the municipality’s young people participates in the youth school and the youth clubs variety of offers.
