Large Investment into Strategic Research in Lund
The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research has granted five centres in Lund EUR 21 million for a five-year period. One of the centres is located at Lund University, where Professor Patrik Rorsman and his research colleagues received a five-year grant of EUR 5 million for research into type 2 diabetes. The researchers will test the hypothesis that combinations of genetic variations in certain genes may cause type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, they will research into identifying high-risk groups and the development of individual treatments for type 2 diabetes.
The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research has invested EUR 84 million into the formation of 18 strategic research centres in Sweden. These centres will encompass research into important areas within science, technique and medicine.
