Glycorex’s Glycosorb-ABO Used to Complete Lung Transplant
Glycorex Transplantation AB announces that the first lung transplantation with donor and recipient of different blood types has been completed using the company's product Glycosorb-ABO.
The transplantation was completed at a large German transplantation centre. The organ recipient was treated with Glycosorb-ABO to avoid an organ rejection caused by the blood type incompatibility between donor and recipient. In the mentioned case donor and recipient were "double" incompatible as the donor was blood type AB and recipient was blood type O.
Glycosorb-ABO is mainly used in kidney transplants but has also been used in liver and heart transplants. It highly increases the number of transplantation possibilities, and decreases the problem with organ failure due to incompatible blood types.
