Alligator Bioscience Concludes Project for AstraZeneca

Alligator Bioscience AB has successfully run a project for AstraZeneca. With the aid of its patented technology, Alligator Bioscience has been able to considerably improve the properties of a protein for AstraZeneca.

These positive results have been achieved by Alligator's FIND technology, which with the aid of genetic engineering facilitates improvement of the properties of individual proteins for drugs and diagnostic applications. This technology offers a more reliable way of refining proteins than conventional methods, whilst facilitating faster and more cost-effective development work.

The contract with AstraZeneca has provided Alligator with full payment of the project's research and development costs, as well as a special success payment for attainment of project targets.

Alligator Bioscience AB develops and markets refined, high-performance proteins, primarily for protein drugs and diagnostic applications. The company develops proteins for its own drug candidates and for customer-financed collaborative projects. Its own projects primarily concentrate on drug candidates in the areas of rheumatism and cardiac infarction. The business is based on the company's own patented FIND technology and supplementary technologies. The latter offer a more reliable way of refining proteins than conventional methods, whilst facilitating faster and more cost-effective development work. Alligator operates from the science park Ideon in Lund.

AstraZeneca is one of the world's leading drug companies. Supported by a strong research business and wide-ranging skills in the fields of manufacture and marketing, the group offers innovative products in six important areas of healthcare: oncology, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, infection, neuroscience and respiratory & inflammation. Last year AstraZeneca invested about USD 3.5 billion in research and development. About 11,600 employees work in research & development at 11 research facilities in seven countries.
