7TM Pharma Acquires CareX

7TM Pharma A/S has announced that they have acquired CareX SA, a privately held French company based in Strasbourg, France. CareX specializes in discovery of small molecule drugs for the treatment of metabolic diseases. 7TM Pharma has acquired CareX through the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of CareX SA.

The acquisition of CareX is the latest in a series of important results for 7TM Pharma over the last year. 7TM recently announced the first closing of the Series C round financing, the successful conclusion of a Phase I/II study with TM30338, the lead candidate in the company's most advanced obesity program as well as the successful achievement of a development milestone in the research collaboration with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

CareX's lead program utilizes a novel approach to the development of CB1 receptor, cannabinoid receptor, antagonists for the treatment of obesity, aiming at a peripherally acting CB1 receptor antagonist devoid of central nervous system activity that may cause CNS-related side effects. The acquisition of CareX strengthens 7TM's position as one of the leading biotech companies in the metabolic drug discovery and development space.
