7TM Pharma Initiates Phase II Clinical Study with Obinepitide

7TM Pharma A/S has initiated a Phase II clinical study of Obinepitide, which is being developed for the treatment of obesity and related diseases. The drug candidate is a close analogue of two natural hormones, each with different mechanisms of action, which are incorporated into one compound, Obinepitide.

The Phase II clinical study is a double-blinded, placebo-controlled study to evaluate weight loss after treatment with Obinepitide for 28 days. The study will enroll 180 patients with a BMI between 30 and 40, which is the definition of clinical obesity to extreme obesity. The study will be conducted by a number of centers in Sweden.
